For this year's OpTech attendees, we were treated to a first look at 2020's NMHC/Kingsley Associates Apartment Resident Preferences Report, providing the industry with a better understanding of what today's resident wants. And while familiar topics such as connectivity, flex living and smart home topics continue to drive conversation, the overall importance on having the right amenities at the resident's fingertips has never been more timely.

For example, more than half of respondents said they would be interested in having a business center at their community, especially if there was one not currently available nearby. Additionally, 80%+ residents responded that they'd be interested or flat out wouldn't rent if a community didn't offer a pool or fitness center. 

In a world where residents now are expecting dedicated areas for things like wellness, working and entertainment, it's crucial that apartment communities not only provide residents access to these, but allows residents a medium that makes it easy for them to reserve spaces for themselves, their spouses and visiting friends.
